Wingtip Sunset

November 29th 2004

Sunset from a plane

Flying back from Thanksgiving at home I was in this little rickety twin prop plane. As you can see, I was right over the wing, so it was more like an hour-long butt massage. Not a bad flight though, and luckily enough, even though I was getting over a cold, the pressure didn’t kill me.

What a sequence of transportation though! We drove to the airport (Santa Barbara, just the nicest little municipal airport ever), hopped on the plane, got off the plane at SFO in the dinky Sky West terminal out in the boonies, took a shuttle to the main terminal (the same one I left from, which brought a nice sense of closure), then a “moving walkway” across the airport, took two escalators from the baggage claim to the AirTrain station, took the “AirTrain” two stops to the BART station, took BART one station and transfered to another train, got off in Berkeley, took an escalator up to the bus stop, hopped on the bus and got off two blocks from my house.

Whew! The lesson: public transportation works in the bay area.
