September already?

Monday, September 1st, 2003

Yeah, it is. September 1st. Two days until I’m 19! Not that 19 means anything anyway… boo.

But it does mean that I get a birthday present from my parents, who are conveniently (just kidding…) missing me every night and day… which means they spoil me when they do see me! Hehehehehehehe. Yeah, I admit it, I’m spoiled.

Anyway, the point is, I got a new sound system for my birthday. The whole thing. And this was needed (well, not really needed. I don’t need anything, but you know…) because my old sterio reciever broke last year, and then my speakers broke last week. So I got a new pair of Yamaha 3-way floor-speakers (they’re really too big to be called bookshelf speakers, but they’re not towers either) plus a 450-watt (that’s 10 times more power than my previous reciever) Kenwood Sterio reciever with Dolby Digital surround logic (kinda “fake surround,” but like I need it anyway). My dad got it all used (plus a free 5-disc CD changer), and it’s all in great shape and it sounds really good. Nice and flat, warm, and detailed with no ear fatigue; and it can get loud. And no, I’m not going crazy over the sound — as in, I didn’t describe it as having “rasberry nuances in the high end with a subtle hint of vanilla in the midrange and a melted chocolate low-end,” though I could say, metaphorically speaking, that it’s dessert for my ears. ;-)
So, since I know he’ll read this, Thanks Dad. I know I’m way too obsessed with this kind of thing (as in, electronics in general); but what can I say, I’m a guy.

Oh, and GO BEARS. We decimated the Golden Eagles from Southern Miss with a 34 to 2 victory, their two points being scored by us with a safety. ::
