Isn’t all what it seems to be…
From the article:
“Army Spc. Clinton Dietz went as far as to say that if Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld were there, “I’d ask him for his resignation.” “

Stupid company! Baaaaaad… Baaaad lawyers, no cash for you.
“According to SCO, if you have a TiVo set-top box, or those models of Sharp Zaurus which use Linux, someone now owes them $32, since the company wants money ‘for each embedded system using Linux.’ SCO also says government agencies must pay up to $699 for each copy of Linux that they use.” (follow it on /.)
Silly SCO, Licence fees are for big companies, not open-source software! Go back and play with your widdle malformed incomplete overpriced proprietary UNIX software… yeah… there you go… thaaaat’s better…. (aww, look how cute…).

SCWM, Pot and the GPL… Frickin hilarious.

SCWM is the Scheme Customizable Window Manager… a very (very) minimalist Linux/Unix window manager designed to keep your focus on the task at hand… even what little focus you may have….
“It should also be noted that since SCWM is extended thru scheme, you
have another advantage. Pot and lame type systems like in C/C++ do
not mix. THC and Lisp dialects (or Pop-11, and sometimes mercury) are
wonderful combinations provided you don’t mind spending 20% of your
time rejoicing in the beauty that is a dynamic language with uniform
syntax and a real goddamn macro system.”
Can’t… stop… laughing! (maybe it’s funny because I can’t possibly take it seriously) (having never smoked…) (ahem.). ::
Ever wonder?

This seems (ha, seems… is) controversial, but it’s well worth perusing, and some of it is very interesting. I think it’s more for those who read the whole thing and believe every word of it than those who just take the morals to heart, but still, very revealing.
“The Skeptic’s Annotated Bible will help those who believe in the Bible to honestly reconsider that belief. It will help those who are unfamiliar with the Bible to resist the temptation to believe. And it will help those who have already rejected the Bible defend their position.
It is time for us all to stop believing in, or pretending to believe in, a book that is so unworthy of belief.”
On another note — a completely different note — Singing Horsies. Oh, and Eric conveying emotions.

I had to log on to Telebears to do my schedule at 7:00 exactly this morning… and now I’m more awake than asleep, so I guess I’ll just stay up. What am I going to do for 4 hours???
Classes look good. I have either a 9AM or a 9:30 AM every day of the week, so I’ll have a nice regular sleep schedule. That means bedtime is (eek!) 12ish. It’ll be good for me… right? Heh. ::

Some things we should all take to heart, whether we have a weblog or not: Write a Better Weblog.

Last Screenshots…

It’s not sad really… because it’s just a game. But, it is sort of sad… it was a pretty immersive world. And it was a lot of work to get my character up to where he was, and now I’m just abandoning it all.
But it is just a game, really. And it was mainly the social part of that game that kept me coming back. Where else can you go to a cantina every night and dance and play music and laugh and have fun with 40 strangers? Yeah, we had some great parties… so that’s how I ended it. I partied like it was 1999.
The game was a lot of fun, and it’s funny really. I’m the kind of person who shouldn’t be leaving, the person who put a month of work into a character, who has all the best weapons and skills, and knows his way around Coronet like the back of his hand… but I’m leaving, and that’s good, because that sentence there alone shows how attached I was to the game, and why I should really start focusing on my life again. I gave all my stuff away, all my money, said the few goodbyes I could say, and then roleplayed my whole death scene good, and I died alright. Can’t log in now, account’s expired.
It feels more like… like when you lose that old paper you saved from 2nd grade, the one you were really proud of and vowed never to lose… while at the same time, losing– no, purposefully deleting– that word document you’ve been working on for the last month. Or, having your beloved telescope stolen; but it’s not nearly that bad.
Oh, I need to stop whining. I’ll forget about it soon enough and get back to important things. I have for the last week, actually… this is the first day I’ve played in 5 days.
Well, anyway… here are some parting screenshots. Heh, I only have 400 of them… 50 MB worth of JPEGs.

My first screen. This is in Coronet, Corellia, my home city. That big column is a waypoint.

My mining operation, when I had one. I found quickly that life was better without harvesters;
they were a ball and chain and a half. But I did get an ungodly amount of resources from them….

My last screenshot… in the Coronet Cantina, surrounded by nice people and cute dancers ;-).
Well, that’s it. I hope you enjoyed my spiel on SWG. It’ll be the last.
RIP Triskan Akamai, 7/1/03 - 8/1/03.
On another note, I’ve been blogging for more than a year now. I started in July of last year. Amazing. Maybe later I’ll post my “best post of the year” imho. I already know what it is… see if you can guess.
Okay, goodnight. ::
